ABOUT THE FILM
The Time Traveller's Guide to Hamilton Gardens tells the remarkable story of how a city rubbish dump became one of the great gardens of the world. Guided by designer Peter Sergel and developed with council and community support, Hamilton Gardens is a living museum of humanity, where each garden reflects the beliefs, lifestyles, and values of the cultures that created them.
From Ancient Egypt and Song Dynasty China to Renaissance Italy, 16th-century England and imagined futures both sustainable and surreal, the film invites audiences to travel backwards and forwards through time. Beautifully directed by Grant Sheehan, this is a story of bold vision, collective effort, and the power of design to transform place.
