Rialto Cinemas is delighted to announce that from Waitangi Day, 2006, New Zealand film will find a new home at Rialto Newmarket.
The recent refurbishment of the complex, increasing the number of cinemas to seven, has allowed Rialto to dedicate one screen to ‘home grown’ product. Outside the film festival circuit, there are few opportunities for emerging NZ filmmakers to commercially screen their product in New Zealand, and Rialto is excited to be able to give those filmmakers an opportunity to showcase their work – and also to offer the public the opportunity to see some great New Zealand films that they might otherwise miss.
The three-month start up programme will include feature film, documentary, music video, concert footage, short film, animation and more.
Currently the New Zealand Film line-up features a mix of product, including some film which has already been shown during the Telecom International Film Festival and DOCNZ, but also as word has spread we have been able to include a number of relative ‘unknowns’ - with some works still in post-production. The programme opens with a mix of documentary and feature film.
Rialto are offering set terms for their New Zealand film programme, complete with a specifically tailored marketing programme including advertising & promotional activities, and we are encouraging local filmmakers to contact us to be a part of it.
