Cherie works as a saleswoman and Jimmy is a young advertising executive. They meet in a laneway populated by nearby office workers who smoke, tell stories, smoke, flirt and smoke some more. She is in a failing relationship and he has just been dumped in favour of a Frenchman – their attraction is immediate, enveloped in the heady fumes of their shared social vice. Bristling with rapid-fire dialogue, this thoroughly enjoyable film is spiced throughout with comic interview confessions about the things people do in the name of love.
